Taste of Japan
A Japanese goods import company.
Project Summary
An online Japanese grocery store looking to introduce an online presence. As a developing company, Taste of Japan struggled with brand identity and came to us for a new website so they could start selling their products. This project was one I completed during my time at Granite 5 and so is not a direct client of Detaildigital.
The Problem
Taste of Japan were a new company needing a full brand setup quickly so they could start e-commerce sales. Without anything to drive sales and create a customer base, they needed some simple branding and a website to place them on the map.
As this was agency work, there was a whole team working on it and my specific responsibilities were to design the website and create the branding.
Solution
After being provided a logo from the client, the focus was to create a branding which was consistent with their company values. It was important to represent an authentic Japanese brand and so research was the first big step to achieving this. Within my research I discovered the cultural meanings of different colours leading me on to choose black and red with a yellow accent, symbolising strength and professionalism. After choosing a font pairing, the design was started for the website, focusing on making sure their products were easily accessible and their brand story a focus point.
